37 Dawson Street along with its neighbor Café en Seine, is one of the most popular pub – restaurants on Dublin’s upmarket Dawson Street. Number 37 is also just a few doors down the hill from the Celtic Whiskey Shop.
What may not be apparent when you first enter the bar is that hidden at the very end of the very long main room is one of Dublin’s nicest and plushest whiskey bars run by the always genial Mr. Ron Black. Ron is something of a legend in the Dublin bar trade as he also ran the smallest pub in Dublin, the Dawson Lounge which is at the top of Dawson Street. The only reason I tell you all this is that if you ask a Dubliner on the street for directions to Ron Black’s Bar, they may guide you to the old Ron Black’s Bar in the tiny Dawson Lounge. As a whiskey drinker, you are looking for Ron Black’s Whiskey Bar in Number 37 Dawson Street!
The bar is very well stocked with a wide range of Irish, Scotch and other world whiskeys and they also run tastings. The whiskey bar can become a bit crowded late at night with overflow from the main bar, so if you are looking for a focused whiskey experience, aim to have your whiskey business completed before 10 pm to taste in comfort. Also, be aware that the Whiskey Bar is only opened from Wednesday to Saturday.
